石内都ISHIUCHI Miyako

1947年群馬県桐生市生まれ。1979年に「Apartment」で女性写真家として初めて第4回木村伊兵衛写真賞受賞。2005年、母の遺品を撮影した「Mother’s」でヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ日本代表作家。2007年より現在まで続けられている被爆者の遺品を撮影した「ひろしま」発表。近年は国内各地の美術館のほか、アメリカ、オーストラリア、イタリアなど海外で作品を発表するようになる。2014年には写真界のノーベル賞と呼ばれるハッセルブラッド国際写真賞を受賞。2017年12月9日より個展を横浜美術館で開催予定。

Born in 1947 in Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture. Ishiuchi received the 4th Kimura Ihei Memorial Award for Apartment in 1979, becoming the rst female photographer to earn the award. In 2005, she represented Japan at the Venice Biennale with Mother's 2000-2005: Traces of the Future, for which she photographed her mother’s belongings. In 2007, Ishiuchi began releasing works from the ongoing series ひろしま/Hiroshima, consisting of photographs of belongings left behind by victims of the atomic bomb. In 2014, Ishiuchi was presented with the Hasselblad Foundation International Award, which is known as the Nobel Prize of the photography world. Her solo exhibition titled Grain and Image will open at the Yokohama Museum of Art on December 9, 2017.
